Jewish colonists

According to this article, there were Jews in America early on. In a book called Anti-semitism in America, it is claimed that there were Jewish immigrants living with the English in the 1600's. If true, and there is no reason to believe this isn't true, then Jewish Americans have been around a lot longer than Ellis Island. This fact also brings into question where there other nonEnglish persons living in the colonies in New England as well?
